Staff Appraisal/ API
The Academic Performance Indicator (API) is a scoring system used to evaluate a faculty member's performance in academics and research. Based on the UGC model, API plays a crucial role in determining faculty promotions and increments.
Here's how the API process works
- the beginning of the academic year, faculty members are introduced to the API and appraisal parameters.
- At the end of the academic year, faculty members submit their API based on the guidelines.
- The faculty's API is used to create performance appraisal attributes.
- Based on the API results, faculty members receive promotions and increments.
- The API is based on a faculty member's self-assessment of their performance in the following areas: Teaching-related activities, Domain knowledge, Participation in examinations and evaluations, and Contribution to innovative teaching and new courses.
- The self-assessment score should be based on verifiable criteria and is finalized by a screening or selection committee.
