The founder, Late Hon. Kundanlalji Agrawal, established the educational trust “Smt. Dankunwar Hindi Kanya Vidyalaya Samiti, Jalna”, a Hindi linguistic minority institution, with a visionary aim of educating girls and promoting gender equality, honour, and respect for women. The Samiti began its primary schooling section in 1958, in memory of Hon. Kundanlalji’s mother, Late Smt. Dankunwarmataji Agrawal. Gradually, the institution was expanded to include a High School section. In 1983, the committee started a junior college offering two programmes—Commerce & Arts.
In 1985, the Smt. Dankunwar Hindi Kanya Vidyalaya Samiti established Smt. Dankunwar Mahila Mahavidyalaya with a Commerce programme, and in 1989, an Arts programme was added to fulfil the dream of Hon. Kundanchacha and the vision of their Patron’s successors to provide higher education opportunities for women. During the same period, MCVC courses in Banking, Accounting and Auditing, as well as Crèche and Child Development, were introduced.
The institution was founded with the broad objective “Shikshitah Vanitah Rashtronnatermulam,” meaning educated women are the true pioneers of the nation’s progress and overall development. An educated woman can shape the nation by fostering values and inculcating virtues. Thus, the establishment of the college was an effort to empower women educationally, socially, and economically, and to help them achieve self-reliance.
In 2000, the Samiti decided to introduce a postgraduate programme in Commerce, which was further elevated to a Research Centre in Commerce in 2005, affiliated with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The institute has consistently served social objectives by aligning with government policies. It strives to accelerate growth, sustain quality, and strengthen continuous improvement and excellence.
