Library Rules and Regulations
The Library and Information Centre functions as a vital academic support system of the college. To ensure optimum utilization of resources, discipline, and a conducive learning environment, the following rules and regulations shall be observed by all library users.
1. Membership and Access
- The Library is open to bonafide students, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff of the college.
- Valid College Identity Card and Library Card must be produced for entry, issue, or return of books.
- Alumni, management members, and staff of sister institutions may avail library membership by paying the prescribed annual subscription, as approved by the college authorities.
- Entry without identity proof is strictly prohibited.
2. Library Timings
Library & Reading Room: 08:30 a.m. to 03:00 p.m. on all working days (Monday to Friday)
- Saturday is reserved for internal administrative and technical library work.
- Timings may be modified during examinations, vacations, or special circumstances with prior notice.
3. Circulation Rules
The Library follows an Open Access System. Borrowing privileges are as follows:

- Books may be renewed twice, provided there is no demand from other users.
- Reference books, rare books, and special collections are for library use only.
- Issued books must be returned on or before the due date.
4. Overdue Charges
- A late fee of ₹2 per day per book will be charged after the due date.
- Late fees must be paid at the College Accounts Section.
- Persistent defaulters may be denied further borrowing privileges.
5. Loss or Damage of Library Material
In case of loss or damage, the borrower shall:
- Replace the book with the latest edition, OR
- Pay 1.5 times the cost of the book, or as decided by the Librarian.
- For rare or out-of-print books, compensation will be decided based on availability.
- Marking, tearing pages, or any misuse of library material is strictly prohibited.
6. Reading Room Rules
- Absolute silence must be maintained in the library and reading room.
- Users must sign the Gate Register at the entrance.
- Personal books, issued library books, and books from other libraries are not allowed inside.
- Bags, handbags, umbrellas, jackets, and personal belongings must be deposited at the Property Counter.
- Valuables should not be deposited; the library is not responsible for loss or damage.
- Items deposited must be collected on the same day.
7. Prohibited Activities
- Mobile phones (use or carrying), eatables, and beverages are strictly prohibited.
- Photography, videography, or media recording is not allowed without prior written permission from the Librarian.
- Any form of misconduct, disturbance, or violation of rules may result in suspension of library membership.
8. Book Bank Facility
- The Book Bank facility is provided to meritorious and needy students.
- Books are issued for a longer duration (maximum one semester).
- Recommendation from the mentor or concerned teacher is mandatory.
9. Best Library User & Defaulters
- One "Best Student Library User Award" is awarded annually to encourage effective use of library resources.
- Students must obtain Library Clearance for issuance of No Dues Certificate.
- Names of defaulters will be forwarded to the Examination Section, and results may be withheld until clearance.
10. Safety and Security
- The library is equipped with CCTV surveillance, fire extinguishers, and pest control measures.
- Users must cooperate with library staff during security checks.
- All books and personal files may be checked while exiting the library.
11. General Guidelines
- Users must follow instructions issued by library staff from time to time.
- Suggestions for improvement of library services are welcome.
- The Librarian reserves the right to add, modify, or withdraw any rule as required in the interest of the institution.
